When I found out I was pregnant, along with much of the advice I got about pregnancy, child birth and making it through those first few weeks...was the advice to go see a movie now. Because it will be awhile before we're able to enjoy one once the little one arrives.
I thought, sure maybe the first few months but after that no big deal. Find a sitter and go. But NOW I understand the logistics involved, not to mention the guilt. Peanut is only awake for maximum 2 hours at a time at age 7 months and refuses to nap for anyone but mom and dad. This does not make it easy to catch a movie since they are usually over 2 hours long (factor in previews and the 20 spot and add another freaking hour to that--what is up with all the ads and previews-jeez!).
We literally can't see a movie unless we let her fore-go a nap. Sounds somewhat harmless if you don't have a kid. If you do, then you know that naps are crucial to keeping a sane baby and not allowing Satan to switch your child for some demon baby that you hardly recognize.
Oh, but one day soon. I will be ready to make the sacrifice and deal with cranky baby girl for a day. I really miss movies. Even though lots of movies really suck nowadays. It's all about quantity over quality it seems.
But that's a story for another post.
